A message from Mayor Cllr Antony Watts on behalf of Waltham Abbey Town Council following the announcement of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (1921-2021)
On behalf of Waltham Abbey Town Council and the residents of Waltham Abbey, I wish to express our sincere condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal family following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.
I was privileged to meet His Royal Highness when he visited Waltham Abbey to open the Gunpowder Park in 2004. He was his usual ebullient and no-nonsense self.
His service to this country and his championing of innovation and conservation will remain a shining example to us all.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a Book of Condolence is not available at the Town Hall. An online Book of Condolence is available at www.royal.uk/condolence
As a mark of respect, the Union Flags at the Town Hall and War Memorial are flying at half-mast.
