Town Council meeting calendar
This calendar is provided for information only. Meetings are subject to changes of time/date or cancellation. Please contact the Town Council before setting off to attend a meeting.
Waltham Abbey Town Council holds numerous meetings throughout the year, many of them monthly, to discuss the issues which affect our town, decide how best to address them, and to deal with the day-to-day running of the council.
The meetings which are likely to be of interest to most people are:
- Full Council
- Policy and ResourcesThe Policy and Resources Committee is responsible for setting Council policy, preparing the annual budget, control and supervision of the budget, setting Fees & Charges, information technology, audit (internal & external), Council staff and establishment, task procedures, complaints, Risk Management, Strategic Plan (five year plan), the Town Hall (building and function room) and both licensed bars (Town Mead and Town Hall).
- Development and EnvironmentThe Development and Environment Committee is responsible for; Town Planning including consideration of Planning Applications, Town Regeneration, Tourism, Highway, Street Cleaning, Public Footpaths and Bus Services within Waltham Abbey.
- Leisure and CommunityThe Leisure and Community Committee is responsible for; recreation grounds, cemetery & gardens of rest, allotments, markets, public conveniences, Christmas lights, Cavalcade of Light, Town Show, Waltham Abbey in Bloom, Town Crier Magazine, Town Centre Partnership and the Neighbourhood Action Panel.

Most Waltham Abbey Town Council meetings are open to the public. In fact, one of the first items on meeting agendas is for public questions, but it’s very rare that the Council receives any.
It really is worth submitting questions to meetings – long before Dave Plummer was elected to the Town Council he submitted a few questions and suggestions which led to new initiatives and changes in policy.
Don’t sit on your thoughts – if you submit them to the relevant meeting they will be discussed and they might be implemented.
If you don’t they won’t!
